About the Role

The Community Development Intern (Part-Time/Temporary) at WUMC Redevelopment is a role that involves neighborhood planning, data collection and analysis, GIS mapping, program development, and community development projects. The internship offers a comprehensive experience in community development, communications, and marketing, working under the guidance of the organization's staff to support various initiatives within targeted communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and update Neighborhood Demographic Data for targeted communities.
  • Create and maintain monthly reports related to economic development, commercial corridor business inventory, and development mapping.
  • Assist Community Development Managers in implementing and coordinating human and social service programs.
  • Provide technical assistance to stakeholders in the service area.
  • Create and maintain annual reports on projects and activities.
  • Assist in holistic community development approaches, including special taxing district inventories, safety initiatives, and GIS mapping.
  • Collaborate with community stakeholders to identify needs.
  • Assist in planning and executing community programs and events.
  • Create content for various social media channels.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a degree program or meet eligible requirements of an applicable internship program.
  • No specific education, certification, or work experience is required.
  • Communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, organizing, and prioritization skills.

Nice to Have

  • Willingness to commit to at least six months (flexible timeframe).

  • No formal qualifications required beyond being enrolled in a degree program or meeting internship eligibility.
