About the Role

The UJC Student Ambassador (Fall 2025) is a part-time, unpaid internship based in New York City, supporting the United Justice Coalition's efforts to raise awareness and take action on key justice issues within the legal system. The role involves working on projects such as planning the 2026 UJC Summit, maintaining communication with stakeholders, and supporting advocacy efforts across different locations, including Kansas City, Kansas. This internship offers opportunities for outreach, digital marketing, content development, and administrative support, providing valuable experience in social justice activism and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support outreach and recruitment efforts by engaging with educational institutions, local officials, activists, and social justice organizations in your designated state.
  • Maintain an active list of contacts, track communications, and follow up as needed to ensure effective outreach.
  • Schedule and conduct in-person or virtual meetings with school leaders and student affairs representatives.
  • Conduct grassroots outreach in local communities, schools, and organizations.
  • Collaborate with the Digital Marketing team to promote UJC activities on social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • Assist in identifying local media, social, and broadcast outlets to promote UJC-related activities.
  • Provide research support on social justice topics, speakers, organizations, and impact assessments.
  • Help with legal summaries, briefs, and content that encourages student participation.
  • Provide weekly progress reports to your supervisor and support administrative tasks like preparing meeting agendas, taking minutes, and updating management.

Requirements

  • Must be a current student enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program at an accredited college or university.
  • Ability to attend all weekly meetings, either virtually or in person.
  • Bilingual proficiency and/or Spanish speaking skills are a plus.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and Google Suite.
  • Experience managing and navigating social media communications.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with diverse constituencies.
  • Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible with changing priorities and capable of multitasking while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Passion for cause-driven work and social justice issues.
  • Able to intern 16 hours per week.

Nice to Have

  • Bilingual proficiency and/or Spanish speaking skills.

Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program at an accredited college or university.
