About the Role

The Digital Employee Communications Manager at Aon is responsible for developing and managing digital benefits communications campaigns for clients, including benefits enrollment and onboarding support, across various digital channels. The role involves managing a team of Digital Communications Consultants, collaborating with other departments, and serving as the subject matter expert for digital communications solutions. The position offers a hybrid work environment with flexibility for virtual and office work, and the candidate reports to the Director of Communications Consulting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage digital benefits communications campaigns for clients' annual benefits enrollment, new hire onboarding, and beyond, focusing on channels such as benefit guides, microsites, and videos.
  • Attend client meetings and lead discussions on communication initiatives with a consultative approach, creating engagement strategies based on client needs.
  • Develop and update various benefit communication materials including benefit guides, microsites, digital benefit hubs, and other materials as directed.
  • Manage projects from start to finish, coordinating deadlines and prioritizing tasks for multiple projects with short turnaround times.
  • Prepare content, oversee edit rounds, and proofread finalized materials.
  • Provide product education and assist with special communications projects as needed.
  • Review other materials and support colleagues as necessary.
  • Continuously discover and implement new functions and industry best practices to maximize efficiency.
  • Report on the effectiveness of digital employee communications campaigns and provide strategic recommendations for optimization.
  • Hire, onboard, train, and manage the performance of Digital Communication Consultants.
  • Conduct regular check-ins, development planning, and talent assessment for team members.
  • Serve as a mentor/coach, providing feedback and performance improvement opportunities.
  • Work with the Director to set task management protocols, provide backup coverage, and identify cross-training opportunities.
  • Handle issue resolution as the initial point of escalation.
  • Participate in new business review and RFP responses as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, graphic design, or a related major.
  • 7+ years of professional communications, graphic design, and/or UX experience.
  • 3+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience overseeing others.
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, website creators, and content management systems such as WordPress.
  • Experience with project management systems like Workfront, SharePoint, or Monday.com.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Effective client service skills with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to think critically and work consultatively across departments and with clients.
  • Experience delivering accurate, timely, and engaging messages through digital channels.

  • Educational background with a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
