About the Role

The Digital Engagement Specialist at Penn State is a creative and detail-oriented role within the Communications and Marketing team in the College of Engineering. The specialist will focus on creating targeted content for social media platforms and email newsletters, engaging with the community, and telling the stories that highlight the college's unique aspects.

Key Responsibilities

Create and schedule content that connects with community members across LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook
Build email newsletters in MailChimp that people want to read
Help plan content calendars to ensure the right message is shared at the right time
Work with the communications team to keep projects on schedule and maintain a consistent voice across channels
Capture authentic moments at campus events
Research audiences and create regular reports on email and social media performance
Analyze performance data to improve content strategy
Collaborate with departments, students, and alumni to tell compelling stories

Requirements

Writes well for different audiences and platforms
Has experience with email platforms like MailChimp or eagerness to learn
Understands what performs on LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube
Can interpret performance data and identify patterns without being overwhelmed by spreadsheets
Stays organized when managing multiple projects and pays attention to details
Is proactive with new ideas and willing to try new approaches in a collaborative environment
Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience in lieu of education

Nice to Have

Experience with social media analytics tools
Previous experience in digital storytelling or higher education communications
