Job Description

About the Role

The Director of Business Development oversees the provision of Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service activities within the Marketing Department at Hill Crest Behavioral Health. The role involves strategic planning, facility growth, brand management, and maintaining relationships with internal departments and referral sources. The position is integral to achieving the organization's continuum of care utilization and supporting facility and organizational goals within a behavioral healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee sales, marketing, and customer service activities within the Marketing Department.
  • Responsible for the facility's strategic marketing plan and enhancing the facility's brand/image.
  • Manage all sales and business development activities and maintain active relationships with internal departments.
  • Participate in discussions related to strategic planning, growth opportunities, projects, programming, recruitment, and retention as a member of the facility management team.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to meet business objectives and monitor performance of account managers.
  • Conduct market research, analyze data, and provide market forecasts and reports.
  • Lead and oversee the development and growth of profitable new business opportunities.
  • Maintain a personal book of referral sources, making a minimum of 25 face-to-face contacts weekly.
  • Coordinate community relations and marketing efforts, including public relations, advertising, and community outreach.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of facility programs, services, admission criteria, and competitor analysis.
  • Participate in community and professional organizations, develop publicity programs, and manage media relations.
  • Coordinate with managed care for negotiations, rate adjustments, and payer contracts.
  • Assist in developing budgets and business plans, and monitor marketing department expenses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or related field; MBA or related advanced degree highly preferred.
  • Minimum of five years experience in organizational communications, referral development, sales management, or related fields, preferably within behavioral healthcare.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License.
  • Knowledge of the Alabama behavioral health marketplace, insurance plans, referral sources, and treatment programs preferred.
  • Superior leadership, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in applying marketing principles including product, placement, pricing, and promotion.
  • Skills in data collection, analysis, strategic planning, and customer service.
  • Willingness to travel, including overnight travel as required.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with social media, online presence, and public relations resources.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment programs.
  • Experience in developing and executing community outreach and public relations campaigns.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business or related field; Masters of Business Administration or related field highly preferred.
  • Prior marketing and/or sales experience within a behavioral healthcare setting preferred.
  • Five years minimum experience in organizational communications, referral development, workshop planning, sales management, and physician relationships preferred.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License.
