The role involves supporting the development and execution of the hotel’s group sales and marketing strategies to achieve revenue and room night sales goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Sales & Marketing in developing and implementing the total group sales and marketing strategy of the hotel to ensure that group revenue and room night sales goals are achieved.
  • Direct the day-to-day activities of the sales team, plan, organize, and assign work, develop and communicate strategies and goals.
  • Create, train, and motivate the sales team responsible for developing new accounts, maintaining existing accounts, and implementing sales strategies to maximize profits and guest satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key clients to generate group and convention business, including room sales, food & beverage sales, and catering/banquet services.
  • Achieve budgeted revenues and maximize profitability within all areas of responsibility.
  • Drive the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget, marketing plan, business plan, and financial plans.
  • Monitor sales activities and performance to ensure actual sales meet or exceed revenue plans.
  • Identify operational problems impacting marketing and sales performance and collaborate with department heads on solutions.
  • Analyze market and sales trends to maintain and increase revenue and market share.
  • Develop special events and sales blitzes to showcase the hotel to potential clients.
  • Coordinate with hotel departments to facilitate services for clients and work with external contacts such as guests, airlines, travel agencies, and community groups.
  • Attend trade shows and market events locally and nationally to promote the hotel and generate new business.
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication with hotel departments and external contacts.
  • May serve as “manager on duty” as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality or related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in hospitality or hotel sales and marketing, with direct supervisory experience over a sales team.
  • Ability to perform frequent standing, moving within and outside the facility, and handling objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with guests, employees, and third parties.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and basic math including budgeting and profit/loss concepts.
  • Problem solving, organizational, and motivating abilities.
  • Ability to travel for workshops, tradeshows, and conventions.
  • May require a valid Driver's License.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
