Key Responsibilities

  • Meet and exceed new business development margin targets in a specific region.
  • Develop and implement an overall strategic plan for contract retention and new business.
  • Focus on business development for non-residential day reporting centers, residential re-entry centers, and in-custody programming services.
  • Identify and analyze new business opportunities and develop strategies at federal, state, county, and city levels.
  • Create, implement, and communicate business development strategies and tactics to drive regional growth and client satisfaction.
  • Lead business development and relationship management activities in the assigned region.
  • Manage the process for obtaining zoning and conditional use permits for residential community-based re-entry facilities and day reporting centers, including meetings with local community leaders.
  • Forecast new and existing account growth using Salesforce and other reports.
  • Develop materials to support business development and client relationship needs.
  • Develop and ensure the implementation of a regional business development strategic plan.
  • Maintain industry and product knowledge and inform senior management of market changes.
  • Utilize Salesforce.com tools to manage business development, implementation, and client relationships.
  • Monitor competitive activity and assess approaches to maintain differentiation.
  • Coordinate with Proposal team to ensure quality and compliance of proposals.
  • Identify and analyze business development targets to ensure a robust pipeline.
  • Participate in pricing and profit margin discussions.
  • Conduct customer site visits and interact with customers to develop relationships and promote services.
  • Communicate with financial personnel regarding budgets, forecasts, margins, and EBITDA.
  • Provide regular reports on business development activities to senior management.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, bidders' conferences, and public hearings.
  • Review RFP responses and provide feedback to ensure key requirements are covered.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Criminal Justice, Communications or related field.
  • Seven (7) years of experience in sales management, including government sales and account management.
  • Experience working with the correctional or criminal justice systems, or selling services to government or similar agencies is preferred.
  • Strategic business development or sales account planning skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of corrections industry and industry trends.
  • Effective communication skills with internal and external contacts at all levels.
  • Working knowledge of the Criminal Justice system and the ability to relate to officials at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated public presentation skills with local government and community representatives.
  • High degree of initiative and independent judgment.
  • Superior negotiation skills to achieve consensus and business objectives.
  • Excellent written and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively (75%) with frequent overnight stays.
  • Proficiency with computers and relevant software used by the department.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in working with the correctional or criminal justice systems.
  • Experience selling services to government agencies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Criminal Justice, Communications or related field.
