About the Role

Almac Group is seeking a Head of Business Development (US) for their Pharma Services division. The role involves managing the US business development team, working closely with senior management to review strategies, improve win rates, and develop new service offerings aligned with the company's growth plans. The position is based in Audubon, PA, and offers a competitive salary with benefits. Key Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility for the day-to-day management of the US business development team ensuring a pipeline of new business opportunities is developed and maintained that will meet or exceed annually defined sales targets.
  • Collaborate with operational colleagues to target appropriate business opportunities and foster positive partnerships for onboarding new clients, coordinating with different departments to identify growth areas and develop strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Continually review territory coverage and ensure the Business Development team are suitably skilled and resourced to prospect for new business opportunities.
  • Ensure BD KPI reports are maintained and presented to Pharma Senior Management with clear, logical recommendations.
  • Manage potential conversion opportunities to maximize win rates on proposals and ensure margin contributions meet company expectations.
  • Oversee the development of the customer base and business strategy by identifying and following up on potential leads through contacts, current customer base, referrals, or 'cold call' introductions, including market research and trend analysis.
  • Work with Corporate Contracts to establish or update legal agreements for all new business wins.

Requirements

  • BSc (or equivalent) qualification in a Science related discipline OR BSc (or equivalent) qualification in a Business Management related discipline with significant experience within the Pharmaceutical industry.
  • Previous 5+ years experience within a Business Development, Client/Account Management or Technical Project Management role within the Pharmaceutical industry.
  • Line management experience leading Business Development individuals.
  • Previous 5+ years experience with costing and proposal generation.

Nice to Have

  • MSc or MBA (or equivalent) qualification.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science or Business Management discipline.
  • Significant experience within the Pharmaceutical industry.
