About the Role

National Instruments (NI) is now the new Test & Measurement (T&M) business unit in Emerson's portfolio. We're looking for sales engineers who thrive in teams and enjoy time spent with customers discussing complex engineering problems, as they serve as our customers' first touch points with T&M. Applicants will demonstrate resilience and a passion to excel. The successful applicant will demonstrate confidence in sharing new insights and strive to keep updated with market developments, competitors, customer demand, and new product lines to develop their technical competence, customer understanding, and soft skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with an Account Manager to support customer sales requests, provide demos, training, and customer configurations
  • Balance time between inbound sales demand, marketing generated leads, customer presentations and demos, and prospecting activities to generate new demand and pipeline
  • Qualify demand and call out opportunities to Account Managers to drive growth
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to others within the team
  • Work collaboratively with many departments, including sales, marketing, technical support, operations, and business units
  • Travel to customer sites to conduct training courses, lunch and learns, and product presentations
  • Collaborate with partner and distribution channels
  • Create a business plan to drive business success in your territory, identifying the right actions and resources needed to support business outcomes

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mechanical, or Biomedical Engineering or Equivalent Experience
  • Understanding of electronics, computers, and high-level programming languages (C, Python, LabVIEW, etc)
  • Ability to relocate to Austin, TX for minimum of 2 years
  • Available for moderate travel
  • English language competency and effective communication skills
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future

Nice to Have

  • Experience with LabVIEW or test instrumentation
  • 1+ years of customer facing sales experience
  • Previous sales or customer facing experience
  • Leadership of teams, organizations, or projects
  • Confidence presenting to audiences of diverse backgrounds and experiences

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in relevant engineering or equivalent experience
