About the Role

BAE Systems is hiring a Manager of Business Development and Capture Management to support our Combat Mission Systems (CMS) business. The Manager will serve as the Business Development Lead for all precision guided munitions and directed energy weapon systems. The role will drive pursuits and capture efforts for new and existing opportunities to mature and expand the portfolio. This position can be based out of Falls Church, VA or Minneapolis, MN, with a hybrid work model involving onsite work approximately 3 days each week and up to 50% travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop an intimate knowledge of the products that the business offers to relevant customers, including multiple variants of gun-based precision guided munitions and directed energy weapon systems, with potential to add more products to the portfolio.
  • Grow the opportunity pipeline by identifying and qualifying new business opportunities with existing and new customers through leveraging technologies, customer relationships, inter-company collaboration, and partnerships.
  • Develop strong relationships with product area leadership and advise them on leads and opportunities, including resource and strategy adjustments needed to win new business.
  • Develop recommendations on the prioritization and resourcing of pursuits and capture efforts.
  • Support Program Directors in developing order forecasts during the Integrated Business Planning process.
  • Obtain marketing intelligence and competitive data related to targeted pursuits and develop marketing strategies.
  • Maintain close customer relationships to understand their needs and help shape their requirements.
  • Assess competitor capabilities in the assigned market space.
  • Support capture efforts by providing market, competitor, and customer intelligence, supporting color teams, pricing activities, and resource allocation.
  • Support the creation and execution of multi-year business development strategies.
  • Inform Bid and Proposal, R&D planning, and overhead budgets including Sales and Marketing.
  • Provide written and verbal reports on the status of leads, opportunities, and capture efforts.

Requirements

  • Active Secret Security Clearance and ability to obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Bachelor's Degree and 12 years of work experience or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in Business Development, Capture Management, Strategy, or related fields.
  • Experience in Defense / Government Contracting.
  • Knowledge of munitions, guided munitions, directed energy weapon systems, or similar products, including technical knowledge, concept of operations, doctrine, and industry support for modernization.
  • Ability to support short-term and long-term strategic planning.
  • Ability to conduct market, competitor, customer, and industry analytics and research.
  • Ability to develop reports and presentations for different audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and support business goals.
  • Proven ability to operate independently and in ad hoc teams.
  • Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong active listening skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Nice to Have

  • Active Top Secret Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor's of Science Degree.
  • Master's Degree in a Technical field or MBA.
  • Experience in precision guided munitions, missile systems, and/or directed energy weapon systems programs.
  • Familiarity with various contracting methodologies including Other Transaction Authority and DFARS.
