About the Role

The Market Research Analyst within ACS Publications Global Marketing will execute quantitative and qualitative studies focused on trends, consumer preferences, and market needs. This role involves designing, managing, and analyzing research to support strategic business decisions across product, marketing, and sales teams. The position is based in Washington, D.C., and requires in-office presence with some travel. The ACS Publications division publishes over 85 scholarly journals in chemistry and related fields, aiming to provide high-quality information products to the scientific community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work across business units and stakeholders within the Publications Division to provide primary and secondary market research support.
  • Maintain and monitor the market research request portal, vetting requests and maintaining a calendar of studies.
  • Draft, edit, and field surveys to meet quantitative research objectives, monitoring data collection for quality and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Conceptualize and execute focus groups, moderated/unmoderated interviews, intercept interviews, and other research techniques to gain qualitative insights.
  • Compile and analyze feedback, interpret data, and create professional reports with key findings and actionable recommendations.
  • Coordinate and oversee recruitment requests, ensuring respondents and test participants align with research needs.
  • Collaborate with research functions in other departments to maximize reach, engagement, and impact of results.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in market/user research or data analysis, preferably in academic publishing or related sectors.
  • Expertise in multiple research methods, including quantitative, qualitative, statistical, and mixed methods, as well as research strategy and operations.
  • Expertise in survey design, execution, and optimization, with proficiency in survey tools such as Qualtrics.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools like Excel, SPSS, Tableau, and outreach platforms such as Eloqua.
  • Ability to analyze complex data sets and translate findings into meaningful business insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Ability to multi-task, problem-solve, and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks.

Nice to Have

Qualifications

  • College degree or equivalent experience or formal training.
