About the Role

This is a professional sales position responsible for improving Sysco's market position and achieving financial growth by executing long-term strategic goals, leveraging advanced analytics, and negotiating contracts to secure new business. The role involves engaging cross-functional teams, building relationships with prospects, and transitioning accounts during onboarding to the sales force.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver the agreed upon new business plan in alignment with the region's financial goals.
  • Work with regional sales leaders to develop a comprehensive business development strategy.
  • Leverage advanced analytics insights to prioritize opportunities and develop business strategies.
  • Prioritize intel opportunities recommended by other sales team members through Sysco Salesforce platform with leadership approval.
  • Build creative and effective sales plans to capitalize on multi-segment opportunities identified by analytics.
  • Coordinate proposal processes for local contracts that address client needs, concerns, and objectives.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to expand business development efforts and assist in securing key accounts.
  • Review weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales objectives and results, and develop action plans for improvement.
  • Participate in continuous training and education on key skills and certifications.
  • Gather information on emerging market and foodservice industry trends to understand the competitive landscape.
  • Stay current with developments in the field through seminars, workshops, and publications.
  • Develop strong relationships with brokers, distributors, and industry peers.
  • Learn quickly when facing new challenges and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Ensure accurate data entry and activity management within Sysco Salesforce platform.
  • Identify opportunities for promotions, additional services, and distribution avenues to increase sales.
  • Present to and consult with senior management on industry trends.
  • Attend sales meetings, food shows, and customer events, providing feedback.
  • Stay current with Sysco's value-added offerings and technology solutions.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years' relevant sales experience in a business-to-business professional sales environment.
  • 2 or more years' proven track record of new business development.
  • Solid analytical problem-solving skills and familiarity with analyzing reports and deriving insights from data.
  • Ability to express information in terms of profit and loss, food cost, and expense ratio.
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to plan and execute business plans.
  • Flexible and open to change and new ideas.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to influence stakeholders.
  • Ability to understand and manage contract compliance.
  • Proficiency with proprietary CRM tools for planning and forecasting sales growth.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality results and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Business and restaurant operations knowledge for managing sophisticated customers.
  • Experience in building trust with prospective customers and securing new business.
  • Skills in consultative selling, networking, and negotiations.
  • Proactive, self-directed, with effective weekly scheduling skills.
  • Understanding of marketing principles, product lines, ordering procedures, and credit terms.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent educational level.

Qualifications
