About the Role

The Business Development Manager, Americas will play a pivotal leadership role in driving new business and revenue growth and nurturing strong agency relationships in the US, Canada, and Latin America. This position involves formulating, directing, organizing, planning, developing, and executing sales strategies with responsibility for a team of business development and technical sales managers. The role requires working in an entrepreneurial environment to reinvent how buyers and sellers connect, upgrading and simplifying travel technology, and leading the sales functions to increase market share, pipeline, and untapped markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and execute aggressive strategic sales initiatives and annual sales plan.
  • Establish sales and business development strategies, growth plans, programs, and functions to achieve revenue and market share targets.
  • Inspire outstanding performance from all levels of the sales organization through collaboration and removal of barriers.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and leadership within the sales and business development teams.
  • Expand Travelport's footprint in the Americas by executing all phases of sales from lead generation to post-sales follow-up.
  • Participate in strategy formulation and key decisions as a member of the Global Business Development leadership team.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with C-suite executives and strategic partners.
  • Evaluate sales operations to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and CRM tool usage.
  • Drive a proactive sales team to deliver revenue and growth targets.
  • Prepare and manage quotations, proposals, and contracts in collaboration with other teams.
  • Oversee sales planning, pipeline health, performance monitoring, and opportunity management.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of competitors’ products and market strategies.
  • Create and optimize campaigns to improve brand awareness and market demand.
  • Clarify team roles, objectives, KPIs, and hold team accountable.
  • Achieve quarterly and annual sales targets and oversee the sales budget.
  • Proactively prospect and network to develop new business opportunities.
  • Serve as the lead salesperson for strategic sales pursuits.
  • Participate in key travel events as speaker or panellist.
  • Research, identify, and target prospective business and revenue opportunities.
  • Provide accurate forecasts and sales performance reports to the VP Sales.

Requirements

  • 5+ years sales experience in value and consultative complex sales leadership and account management.
  • 5+ years' experience managing teams with the ability to engage, influence, and leverage internal resources.
  • 5+ years' proven ability in solution selling within high-tech and travel industry, with knowledge of Travelport's Products, Support & Services offerings.
  • Experience working in a global matrixed organization of similar or larger size and revenue.
  • Approaches tasks with energy, drive, and focus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to engage and inspire at all levels internally and externally.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, and creative thinking.
  • Ability to act as a change agent with an open and flexible approach.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of Travelport's products, support, and services within the travel agency vertical.
  • Experience in a solution selling capacity within high-tech and travel industry.
  • Experience in a global matrixed organization of similar size and revenue.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of sales experience in complex, consultative sales leadership and account management.
  • Proven success managing teams and engaging internal resources.
  • Experience in high-tech and travel industry solution selling.
