About the Role

The New Business Manager is responsible for sourcing and developing profitable new business that can be transitioned to a Territory Manager. The role involves pursuing high-potential sales leads, providing strategic support to Territory Managers, and developing market share within the Hudson Valley, NY area. The position focuses on building a pipeline of high potential clients, analyzing market trends, and creating compelling offerings to grow the company's customer base and revenue.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source, pursue, secure, and develop high potential new business that can be transitioned to a Territory Manager in order to achieve annual sales and profit operating plans.
  • Develop a sound business plan to capture and penetrate market share within the division's footprint, focusing on customers with sales potential greater than $0.5 million annually.
  • Research potential customer requirements, menu design, business size, current suppliers, and analyze market trends, product innovations, competitors' products, prices, and sales.
  • Share market and customer information with clients, including new menu ideas and products, as part of value-added services.
  • Work with Category and Segment Specialists to create order guides and pricing for prospective accounts.
  • Complete new customer credit applications and coordinate onboarding processes with relevant teams to ensure smooth account transition.
  • Maintain full understanding of company IT tools to identify opportunities, update progress, and communicate with District Sales Managers.
  • Visit customers, understand concerns, and adjust offerings or pricing as needed; maintain ongoing relationships with key decision makers.
  • Conduct Customer Business Reviews (CBRs) with critical customers upon request.
  • Attend sales meetings, food shows, vendor, marketing, and industry events to network and generate leads.
  • Share skills and experience with Territory Managers in sales meetings, focusing on onboarding, research, penetration, warming, and closing techniques.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years sales experience, preferably in the foodservice industry.
  • Experience opening accounts greater than $0.5 million in sales.
  • Exceptional sales, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to warm, convert, and close high-potential new accounts.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to present effectively in front of large groups using creative presentation skills.
  • Highly motivated, results-driven, and able to work autonomously.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Overnight travel may be required.

  • Experience in the foodservice industry with a focus on high-value account development.
  • Knowledge of industry trends, menu design, and supplier landscape.
