About the Role

The New Business Manager in Hudson Valley NY is responsible for sourcing and developing profitable new business that can be transitioned to a Territory Manager. The role involves pursuing high-potential sales leads, providing strategic support to Territory Managers, developing business plans to capture market share, and maintaining relationships with key decision makers. The position aims to generate significant new account revenue, focusing on accounts with sales potential greater than $0.5 million annually, with targets of a minimum of $2 million in the first year and $6 million annually thereafter.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source, pursue, secure, and develop high-potential new business that can be transitioned to a Territory Manager to achieve sales and profit goals.
  • Maintain a pipeline of emerging high potential clients and research customer requirements, market trends, competitors, and current suppliers.
  • Create order-guide/pricing strategies with Category and Segment Specialists for prospective accounts.
  • Complete new customer credit applications and facilitate onboarding processes in collaboration with Customer Solutions Coordinator, Sales Coordinator, and TM.
  • Utilize company IT tools and databases for lead generation and to update progress on potential opportunities.
  • Communicate field intelligence and observations with District Sales Managers.
  • Visit customers, understand their concerns, and adjust offerings or pricing as needed.
  • Conduct Customer Business Reviews (CBRs) with critical customers upon request.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with key decision makers and leverage industry contacts.
  • Attend sales meetings, food shows, vendor, marketing, and industry events to network and identify prospects.
  • Share skills and experience with TMs in sales meetings, focusing on onboarding, research, penetration, warming, and closing techniques.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years sales experience, preferably in the foodservice industry.
  • Experience opening accounts greater than $0.5 million.
  • Exceptional sales and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to warm, convert, and close high-potential new accounts.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships internally and externally.
  • Ability to present effectively in front of large groups using creative presentation skills.
  • Highly motivated, results-driven, and able to work autonomously.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Overnight travel may be required for trainings, meetings, or events.
