About the Role

The Outreach & Engagement Student Assistant will work closely with the Computer Science Program Manager to support outreach and student engagement efforts for the Computer Science department at Bellevue College. This role involves creating content for social media, assisting with event setup and logistics, and contributing to community-building initiatives. Key Responsibilities

  • Create or curate engaging content (text, images, videos) for social media platforms such as Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Track and report basic performance metrics to help assess the impact of social media efforts.
  • Develop flyers to promote department sponsored events and outreach activities.
  • Take photos at events to capture student participation and highlight program activities.
  • Contribute ideas and recommendations to enhance student engagement and community-building initiatives.
  • Assist the Computer Science Program Manager with event setup and logistics, as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal skills, demonstrated through academic coursework, professional experience, or content creation.
  • Demonstrated experience managing social media accounts (e.g., for a student organization, business, or professional project).
  • Basic graphic design skills using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar.
  • Ability to successfully complete tasks both independently and in collaboration with a team.

Nice to Have

  • Good understanding of various social media platforms.
  • Basic graphic design skills (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.) are a plus.
  • Creative thinking and an eye for detail.

Qualifications

  • At the time of hire, BC student must be in good standing with Student Conduct.
  • Maintain student status (enrolled in academic credits) at Bellevue College (except Summer).
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and not fall below a 2.5 quarterly GPA for more than one consecutive quarter.
  • Remain in good standing with Student Conduct.
