About the Role

The Product Marketing Manager at General Motors is responsible for developing strategies that drive growth and market leadership in the commercial and government sectors. The role involves partnering with cross-functional teams to create coherent go-to-market strategies, conducting in-depth financial, market, and industry analysis, and supporting initiatives that accelerate retention and growth. The team challenges the status quo and aims to position GM as a leader in innovative software and subscription services, contributing to the company's vision of a world with Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions, and Zero Congestion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define target customer, market positioning, and key areas of differentiation for products and features within domain.
  • Develop the go-to-market strategy for new products and features.
  • Develop and support comprehensive business cases in partnership with Product Management and Finance.
  • Create a compelling pricing and packaging strategy for new products.
  • Gather and analyze relevant data to identify and articulate specific value propositions and market size for new initiatives.
  • Build and estimate business models and potential financial and operational impacts of proposed initiatives.
  • Communicate complex business concepts through compelling storytelling in a structured and succinct manner that conveys an actionable point of view.
  • Present findings and recommendations clearly and convincingly.
  • Lead the launch of new features and products, collaborating with key stakeholders.
  • Continuously assess product-market fit, trends, and competitive threats.
  • Collaborate on research activities to gauge desirability, willingness to pay, and market insights.
  • Lead business support for strategic product management and tech partnerships on commercial models.
  • Champion go-to-market requirements that influence product roadmaps.
  • Apply data and analytics methodologies to set strategic direction and validate hypotheses.
  • Assess business plans, roadmaps, and the competitive landscape, providing recommendations for improvements.
  • Coordinate with global regions on local needs and resource prioritization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Marketing, or a related discipline.
  • 2+ years' experience in creating business and financial cases.
  • 5+ years of product marketing or product management experience.
  • Experience with subscription business management.
  • Experience working with market research and analytics to derive customer insights and market trends.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively present to all levels of the company.
  • Ability to synthesize and communicate business information clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to create business cases and pricing models to support initiatives.
  • Ability to translate data into business stories and actionable recommendations.
  • Skilled in priority setting and aligning projects with business strategy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and cooperation among cross-functional teams.

  • Master in storytelling.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Marketing, or a related discipline.
  • 2+ years' experience in creating business/financial cases.
  • 5+ years of product marketing or product management experience.
