Research Science Analyst - Mobility Electrification Model, EV Outlook

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Leverage the McKinsey Electric Vehicle Outlook Model to generate scenario-based EV sales and parc forecasts for passenger cars and commercial vehicles, considering total cost of ownership, regulatory impacts, and demand and supply drivers.
• Conduct in-depth analyses of individual OEM strategies, assessing market positioning, go-to-market approaches, and investment plans.
• Apply advanced machine learning algorithms (proficiency not required) to identify drivers and underlying correlations in mobility data.
• Analyze value and profit pools across the automotive value chain to identify strategic opportunities for OEMs and suppliers in the mobility transition.
• Develop and customize business insights and model outputs through collaboration with McKinsey experts and directly with clients.

Requirements

• Master's degree in business, business informatics, economics, or STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) preferred.
• 2+ years of professional experience.
• Proficiency in Python to manage and visualize mobility data insights and guide the development of mobility tools (preferred).
• Strong analytical background with quantitative skills, including knowledge of software/solutions; strong MS Excel and PowerPoint skills are a minimum requirement, preferably with Python coding proficiency and data visualization experience (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI).
• Background in, or strong interest in automotive and mobility, with a willingness to specialize and bring related expertise.
• Adept at managing key stakeholders (internal & external) and confident in working collaboratively in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with senior stakeholders.
• Strong process management skills, capable of coordinating multiple workstreams independently with foresight.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Proficiency in Python for data management and visualization.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or PowerBI.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant field (preferred).
• At least 2 years of professional experience.
