About the Role

Merlo Energy, a division of The Kendall Group, seeks a talented, creative, self-motivated individual for our Sales Manager position. The Kendall Group is comprised of seven divisions with 75+ locations in eleven states. It serves the Electrical, Automation, Pipe, Valve, and Fittings products, Steam, Lighting, Industrial Controls, and Instrumentation Industries. The Sales Manager will be a key member of the Merlo Energy Outside Sales Team, responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies across various market verticals to grow the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Model Service Excellence with your team and provide leadership, direction, growth, and mentoring.
  • Adhere to company values and foster a culture of belonging and recognition.
  • Invest in leadership and self-growth through continuous improvement, learning, and development.
  • Grow sales across all markets and product disciplines.
  • Develop short- and long-term strategies for growth and sustainability.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with customers, principles, and fellow Owner-Associates.
  • Improve sales force effectiveness through the annual sales planning process including periodic review.
  • Develop and implement countermeasures for underperforming territories.
  • Support strategic company initiatives such as supplier partnership programs, sales promotions, e-commerce, TCO, and integrated solutions.
  • Provide input to division leadership on market conditions, growth opportunities, and customer dynamics.
  • Lead personnel functions including recruiting, hiring, evaluation, training, discipline, and termination.
  • Coach, mentor, and monitor performance of the regional sales team/office.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5 years' experience working with manufacturer in product management, industry vertical, or sales management role, or 2 years' experience managing people or demonstrating leadership abilities.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and knowledge of industry-specific products and tools.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and shift priorities.
  • Excellent mentoring, coaching, and people management skills.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with above-average negotiation skills.
  • Up to 30% travel including overnights.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to see, talk, hear, sit for 8 hours, and perform physical demands as described.

Nice to Have

  • 10 years' experience working with manufacturer in product management, industry vertical, or direct sales management role.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or business.
