About the Role

The Homewood Suites Washington DC Downtown is looking for an enthusiastic Sales Manager to join our team. Managed by Crestline Hotels and Resorts, our hotel offers competitive wages, great benefits, and provides a positive workplace for all our employees. The ultimate mission of this role will be to solicit, sell, and contract rooms for the assigned markets in coordination with transient demand patterns and existing group business to maximize hotel rooms and related revenues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creates and executes strategic sales plans to identify, attract and retain appropriate business to the hotel
  • Solicits new and existing accounts to meet and exceed revenue goals through telephone prospecting, outside sales calls, site inspections, and written communication
  • Attends trade shows, industry meetings, and community events
  • Prepares sales proposals for, meets with, and entertains clients as deemed appropriate based on individual clients and accounts
  • Responds to incoming leads and maximizes conversion from all lead sources
  • Analyzes and manages business opportunities to achieve the highest profit margins for department and hotel
  • Knows local market trends, competition, and key accounts of the hotel
  • Creatively sells available hotel space to maximize revenue
  • Negotiates and finalizes contracts within approved Crestline guidelines
  • Ensures all client communication and significant information are entered into sales software
  • Establishes on-site customer contact as needed and introduces customers to the service staff
  • Follows up with clients after each function to ensure satisfaction and solicit additional business
  • Conducts oneself professionally, acts as a representative of the hotel, and is an enthusiastic team member
  • Assists the Director of Sales with annual business planning and budgeting
  • Executes and drafts sales action plans
  • May work flexible hours and weekends as required

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • One to two years of experience in hotel and/or conference center sales or equivalent education and experience
  • Ability to utilize computer programs effectively, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, property management system, and sales software
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Advanced knowledge of sales skills, revenue management, action plan execution, and hotel operations
  • Ability to set priorities, plan, organize, and delegate
