Job Description

About the Role

The Senior Business Development Executive is responsible for developing new business relationships and expanding existing ones within the Cell Solutions division of Charles River. The role involves analyzing account potential, initiating, developing, and closing sales to drive profitable revenue growth across various market segments such as Cell and Gene Therapy, Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Regenerative Medicine, Vaccine, and Academic R D. This position is remote, with travel expected up to 50% of the time, and supports the company's mission to provide high-quality cellular materials and services to support biomedical research and cell therapy development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate technical, negotiation, and selling skills.
  • Work with management to develop, prepare, and implement a comprehensive territory business plan to identify new target accounts and opportunities within an assigned geographic area to achieve revenue targets.
  • Develop and maintain short- and long-term sales pipeline to consistently generate revenue.
  • Build team relationships with other Sales and Operational staff to maximize sales revenue and territory pipeline.
  • Serve as the voice of the customers by collecting and communicating VOC to Marketing to improve customer experience and anticipate market changes.
  • Participate in local educational opportunities, read professional publications, maintain personal networks, and participate in professional organizations to enhance job knowledge.
  • Work with management to prepare and provide accurate territory forecasts throughout the year to track achievements versus goals.
  • Travel independently to meet with current and prospective customers, attend vendor shows, seminars, and sales meetings to increase revenue and build relationships.
  • Assist with updating and maintaining applicable databases (e.g., SalesForce) and execute other daily tasks or special projects as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in scientific, business, or marketing discipline; master's degree or Ph.D. preferred.
  • Six to nine years of experience in a similar sales role, preferably in biotech, pharmaceutical, or academic research organizations.
  • Familiarity with primary human cells, stem cells, immunology, life science research, drug screening, toxicity testing, cell-based assays, hematology, or flow cytometry.

Nice to Have

  • Certified Sales Professional designation.
  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in relevant field.

Qualifications

  • Educational background in scientific, business, or marketing disciplines.
  • Experience in selling to academic, biotech, or pharmaceutical organizations.
