About the Role

The Sr Director, Global Talent Intelligence, TA Programs & TA Operations will lead global talent intelligence, sourcing, data-driven recruitment strategy, and operational excellence with the goal of transforming hiring practices, driving process simplification, and implementing new ways of working using AI and automation. This pivotal leadership role bridges the gap between business strategy and talent acquisition by providing data-driven insights to inform critical hiring decisions across the global organization. The role includes creating the Center of Operational Recruitment Excellence, developing TA strategies, optimizing recruitment processes leveraging data and technology, and supporting the upskilling of recruiters and hiring managers. The position reports to the VP, Talent Acquisition, and is based in Boston with a hybrid work model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive global talent intelligence strategy aligned with business objectives and growth plans, focusing on Key Priority Roles at the Sr Director to VP+ level for net new hires.
  • Lead a small high-performing talent intelligence team working closely with Talent Acquisition Business Partners, recruiters, sourcers, HRBPs, and TA Operations.
  • Collaborate with HR Technology teams to implement and optimize talent intelligence platforms and tools, partnering with People Strategy & Analytics, Data Technology & Engineering, Data Science, and Competitive Intelligence teams.
  • Analyze emerging skills, workforce demographics, talent movements, and best practices to become an expert in key talent market dynamics and predict future trends.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses, including predictive modeling, to forecast talent needs and assess the impact of economic trends and location strategies.
  • Lead benchmarking initiatives to compare Vertex’s talent acquisition programs against industry best practices and competitors, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Utilize advanced analytics tools and market intelligence platforms to collect, analyze, and synthesize talent data, maintaining data integrity and reliability.
  • Create comprehensive intelligence reports translating complex data into actionable recommendations for talent acquisition strategies.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on labor markets, industry trends, and research methodologies, providing insights to global TA leadership.
  • Build relationships with external vendors, research firms, and talent intelligence networks to enhance market insights.
  • Create and manage a talent intelligence database and TA knowledge management system for strategic decision-making.
  • Partner with TA Strategy Leads on projects, providing data-driven insights and recommendations.
  • Mentor and train global TA teams on best practices in talent intelligence, market research, and competitive analysis.
  • Support TA program design by partnering with TA Operations to develop innovative, data-driven programs and tools, and upskill the organization.
  • Work with the VP of TA to prepare presentations and reports to communicate research findings to senior leadership.
  • Design and implement multi-channel sourcing strategies for critical and hard-to-fill roles globally.
  • Establish a centralized sourcing center of excellence supporting business units with candidate identification techniques.
  • Develop and optimize sourcing playbooks leveraging AI, automation, and digital engagement technologies.
  • Create metrics-driven frameworks to evaluate sourcing effectiveness, efficiency, and ROI.
  • Build proactive talent pipelines for Key Priority Roles through market mapping, competitive intelligence, and passive candidate engagement.
  • Standardize and enhance recruitment operational excellence across Vertex’s footprint.
  • Collaborate with HR Operations and Digital Innovation teams on the TA tech stack aligning with overall HR digital strategy.
  • Drive recruitment process improvements, enhance candidate experience, ensure data integrity, and reduce errors.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in talent intelligence, workforce analytics, or related fields with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in global talent intelligence, market research, and data analysis, with a proven track record of workforce trend analysis.
  • Proficiency in Excel and advanced data analysis and visualization tools to analyze large datasets and generate insights.
  • Ability to interpret data, identify trends, and generate actionable insights to drive hiring success.
  • Experience with research methodologies (qualitative and quantitative) and designing research projects.
  • Hands-on experience using talent intelligence platforms such as Draup, LinkedIn Insights, Gartner Talent Neuron.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to communicate complex data clearly and persuasively.
  • Strategic thinking, problem-solving, and business acumen skills.
  • Knowledge of the biotech/pharma industry is a plus.
  • Experience working in multinational environments with a global labor market perspective.
