About the Role

The Senior Sales Manager is responsible for leading the property's sales department and driving all top line revenues at an assigned hotel. This role involves leadership, revenue management, marketing, and sales acumen within a supportive, diverse team environment at Choice Managed Hotel Division. The position emphasizes creating a positive energy, fostering teamwork, and exceeding guest and client expectations to achieve hotel goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serves as authority on sales processes, contracts, sales platforms, and acts as liaison for hotel's collaboration.
  • Collaborates with all departments to deploy 'Everybody Sells' strategies and supports the development of the hotel's business strategies.
  • Develops and implements sales strategies to achieve individual and team sales goals, market share, and revenue targets.
  • Prepares proposals and contracts to maximize profit while satisfying client needs.
  • Responds to Requests For Proposals (RFPs) and communicates client requests effectively across departments.
  • Uses outside sales calls, prospecting, hotel tours, and hosting clients to solicit new business.
  • Delivers and sells hotel features and benefits to meet client needs, and maintains relationships with in-house customers for repeat business.
  • Reviews individual sales goals weekly, adjusts strategies to meet objectives, and ensures maximum occupancy through follow-ups.
  • Represents the hotel at trade shows and community events, promoting hotel service and brand advocacy.
  • Manages sales team members, including delegation, training, and performance oversight.
  • Ensures all sales materials meet brand standards and hotel quality standards.
  • Maintains a focus on guest satisfaction by providing genuine hospitality, resolving guest issues, and exceeding expectations.
  • Performs other duties as required to support guest satisfaction and hotel sales objectives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum five years of sales management experience within the hotel industry.
  • At least two years of experience in sales management at an upscale hotel brand within the past five years.
  • Prospecting mindset and ability to generate new leads.
  • General knowledge of contract laws and managing owner relationships.
  • Experience managing a team and resolving conflicts with guests, staff, and supervisors.
  • Ability to interpret and implement strategies based on industry reviews and data (STR, TravelClick/Kalibri Labs, GDS, online booking tools).
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office, Delphi, Opera, and catering/convention services tools.
  • Knowledge of hotel operations, including business planning, budgeting, quality assurance, hospitality law, and long-range planning.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Physical ability to stand, sit, walk for extended periods, and lift up to 75 lbs.

Nice to Have

  • Experience managing owner relationships.
  • Experience in Minneapolis downtown market.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required, bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Minimum two years at an upscale brand in past five years in sales management.
