About the Role

The Social Media Strategist II is responsible for executing and maintaining the organization's enterprise-wide social presence, with a focus on YouTube and video-first social channels. The role involves developing platform strategies, content strategies, social governance, paid advertising, employer branding, talent acquisition, employee advocacy, social intelligence, listening, reporting, and reputation management. The position supports long-term strategic planning aligned with enterprise and corporate marketing goals, and provides leadership and expertise on social media best practices within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute and maintain the organization's enterprise-wide social presence, including platform strategies, content strategies, social governance, paid social advertising, employer brand, and talent acquisition strategies.
  • Contribute to planning, developing, and implementing a long-term strategic plan supporting enterprise strategy, corporate marketing, and brand.
  • Manage and implement external and internal social media campaigns and communications.
  • Serve as a social media expert and provide leadership on best practices.
  • Mentor lower-level team members and lead complex assignments requiring initiative to resolve issues.
  • Assist in developing campaign strategies and performance metrics for visibility and engagement.
  • Develop social media strategies, campaign plans, and editorial calendars; analyze performance and effectiveness against goals.
  • Monitor and analyze platforms to identify challenges and execute strategies to resolve them.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure strategy alignment and develop analytics and metrics frameworks.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders and senior management to ensure messaging consistency and policy compliance.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors and coordinate with procurement, ETS, and InfoSec for vendor reviews.
  • Lead and present recommendations to improve member experience, including messaging tone and sentiment.
  • Stay current with technology, industry best practices, and competitive insights; mentor team members accordingly.
  • Develop and implement social media compliance and security programs to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Report and present social media complaint trends and escalations to senior leadership.
  • Assist in managing social media campaigns and serve as a subject matter expert on social media best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field, or equivalent training, education, and experience.
  • Significant knowledge of social media platforms, especially video-first platforms and placements, review sites, and emerging media.
  • Deep understanding of YouTube's algorithm, trends, and best practices for optimizing video content and channel performance.
  • Experience in developing and managing large corporate social media campaigns and budgets.
  • Skill with social media management systems (SMMS), employee advocacy tools, and paid social advertising platforms.
  • Working knowledge of marketing principles such as branding, promotions, production, communications, direct marketing, product life cycles, and business strategies.
  • Experience demonstrating thought leadership, initiative, decision-making, and creative problem-solving.
  • Strong presentation skills for research, analysis, and strategic recommendations.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple priorities independently or in a team environment.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of media operations, editorial practices, and specialized publications.
  • Expert analytical skills for summarizing information and identifying key patterns and results.
  • Understanding of regulatory and financial compliance protocols.
  • Ability to build strategic plans and alliances with leadership.
