About the Role

Whitworth University is seeking a talented and creative individual to join our Marketing Communications (MarCom) team as a Video, Photo & Social Media Specialist. This role involves capturing campus life through engaging videos and photographs, supporting the university's social media presence, and contributing to higher education marketing efforts. The position emphasizes visual storytelling, technical skills in videography and photography, and alignment with the university's Christian mission and values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Capture daily elements of campus life through videos and photos.
  • Attend and cover select university events.
  • Organize, schedule, and conduct dedicated video and photo shoots.
  • Produce videos for online use and university events.
  • Work closely with the associate director of media relations and other team members to ensure videos align with the university brand and strategic goals.
  • Select, edit, and format photos to meet university standards for print, web, and social media.
  • Manage and organize a digital media library, ensuring assets are properly labeled, categorized, and accessible.
  • Coordinate the video and photo planning processes, including storyboarding and conceptualization with campus partners.
  • Develop, plan, and post social media content in collaboration with team members and campus partners.
  • Monitor engagement on social platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube) and address questions or issues.
  • Gather, analyze, and report on social media engagement metrics quarterly.
  • Assist campus partners with university-endorsed social media accounts.
  • Work with students to manage student-generated content and campaigns.
  • Arrange for release and liability forms as needed.
  • Ensure copyright law compliance for audio and visual content, working with third parties for licenses.
  • Participate in department events and special projects.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., Premiere, After Effects, Audition, Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and digital storytelling trends.
  • Experience with audio and lighting equipment.
  • Ability to use a DSLR camera on manual settings.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in videography and photography techniques, including editing software.
  • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and productively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to engage with the university's mission and integrate Christian faith into work.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States and maintain valid work authorization throughout employment.

Nice to Have

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, media production, or related field.
  • Experience in higher education marketing or related field.

Qualifications

  • Educational background in communications, marketing, media production, or related field (preferred).
  • Experience with social media platforms and trends.
  • Technical skills in videography, photography, and editing software.
