About the Role

BAE Systems' Intelligence & Security Sector (I&S) is seeking a Vice President of Business Development for its Intelligence Solutions Business Area. Reporting directly to the Sector Vice President, Business Winning, this executive will partner with their business area leadership team to drive the organization's strategic growth objectives around being a Systems Integrator (SI) by developing and refining an understanding of customers' most important needs and creating/leading winning capture strategies. The position involves leading a team of business development professionals, managing customer engagement, pipeline growth, proposals, and capture processes to achieve a greater than 55% success rate. The role supports strategic and tactical business development and marketing strategies to maximize customer and market penetration, with a preferred location in Sterling, Virginia, requiring frequent travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Grow the opportunity pipeline to 10X of Intelligence Solutions annual revenues by identifying and qualifying new business opportunities through leveraging current technologies, customer relationships, and inter-company collaboration.
  • Develop and execute strategic and tactical plans for the pursuit and successful capture of key opportunities.
  • Lead and manage a team of business development professionals to maximize customer engagement through efficient territory management and positioning to win new business.
  • Obtain marketing intelligence and competitive data related to potential pursuits and develop marketing strategies.
  • Participate in bid decisions, development of cost strategies, and phase reviews.
  • Establish, build, and maintain customer relationships and assess competitor capabilities aligned to specific customers in the intelligence community.
  • Support the creation and execution of multi-year business development strategies.
  • Participate in IRAD reviews and manage Business Area allocations of Technical Marketing, Bid & Proposal budgets, and overall department indirect budgets including personnel and travel expenses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business-related discipline.
  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant business development experience.
  • Experience with IC1 and IC2 levels.
  • Proven success in leading and winning contracts greater than $100M.
  • Ability to establish and use important customer relationships with senior officials within defense and intelligence communities.
  • Experience leading and growing intelligence services, DoD services, or solutions businesses with at least $450M in revenue.
  • Knowledge of systems integration, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), IT services, cloud deployment, high performance computing, cyber security, and software development.
  • Experience leading opportunity captures, developing win strategies, shaping deals, developing teaming strategies, and understanding pricing to develop winning proposals.
  • Background in solution selling, developing new markets, and leading strategic campaigns from inception to completion.
  • Ability to develop and implement plans for achieving awards and growth.
  • Knowledge of government contracting, acquisition trends, and customer buying behaviors.
  • Understanding of competitors and ability to model their behaviors.
  • Experience managing budgets for B&P, IRAD, and overhead costs.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with experience presenting to senior executives and customers.
  • Proven leadership of large, geographically diverse teams with coaching and mentoring skills.

Nice to Have

  • MBA or comparable master's degree.
  • Ability to hold a TS/SCI clearance.
