About the Role

Red 6 is an innovative Augmented Reality (AR) technology startup leading the way in synthetic air combat training. Our primary technology, supporting our ATARS product, enables pilots to simulate the cognitive challenges of flying while accessing realistic, scalable training in dynamic outdoor environments. We are hiring a Vice President of Business Development to lead our Navy portfolio, focusing on Navy customer engagement and growth. The role is based in Orlando, FL, and seeks a mission-focused leader with Navy experience and business development expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Navy business development strategy that aligns with corporate growth goals.
  • Shape and influence requirements early in the acquisition cycle to align with Red 6's capabilities.
  • Manage the full business development lifecycle: opportunity identification, capture strategy, proposal support, and contract transition.
  • Establish and maintain trusted relationships with Navy decision-makers, industry partners, and integrators.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, marketing, and leadership teams to ensure customer success.
  • Deliver weekly staff updates and quarterly progress reports.
  • Contribute to the evolution of business development processes, including CRM, formal capture, and proposal workflows.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in a business development leadership role.
  • 20+ years in the U.S. Navy, preferably retired Commander rank or higher.
  • Background in modeling & simulation, flight training, or LVC systems is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in capturing large-scale Navy contracts, preferably in emerging tech or training domains.
  • Strong knowledge of Navy acquisition programs, POM processes, and contracting vehicles (e.g., SBIR, OTA, IDIQ).
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Strategic thinking and execution in military business development environments.
  • Customer mapping and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Business case development and opportunity shaping experience.
  • Familiarity with Shipley capture methodology.
  • Proposal management experience in SBIR and FAR-based processes.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.
  • General technical fluency with AR, XR, and LVC systems (not expert-level but able to communicate clearly).

Nice to Have

  • Experience with modeling & simulation, flight training, or LVC systems.
  • Experience with emerging tech or training domains in Navy contracts.
  • Knowledge of Navy acquisition programs and contracting vehicles.
